Safeguarding Policies

Safeguarding our children is paramount to ensuring that they are safe and happy, both within school, at home and in the wider community. Being safe and happy allows them the opportunity to maximise their learning opportunities and reach their full potential.

The school works with a wide range of professionals to ensure that any issues around safeguarding which are raised, are dealt with promptly and in the best interests of the child concerned. Other people involved with the school may not always know this is happening, due to matters of confidentiality. We also appreciate that we may not always know things that happen outside school and in the wider community.

It is important that school and the school community can work together in this important aspect. Therefore, if you have any worries regarding the safeguarding of a child from our school, please contact us, or if it is urgent, serious and/or out of school hours, please contact the Police on the 101 number or  Out of hours Call Derbyshire (Children’s /Young Peoples and Adult Social Care) Tel: 01629 533 190
Fax: 01629 585 669

Keeping Children Safe in Education - Guidance for September 2023

Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy 2023-2024

The school adopts the Local Authority model policy which is developed through the Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (DDSCP). This is released in September and runs to the following September. Amendments during the year are logged, as and when they are made.  The school's aims, local context, characteristics and community needs, are added to this model policy, to ensure that safeguarding reflects statutory requirements, local authority directives and information, and the needs of the local school community.

  • Safeguarding at out of school football clubs Play Safe, a new national safeguarding campaign (Football Association) Over the weekend, the Football Association and the NSPCC launched ‘Play Safe’, a national campaign to focus attention on the vital importance of safeguarding in football. One aspect of the campaign is prompting parents to ask questions: • Do you know your child’s club Welfare Officer? • If so, do you have their tel no. in your ‘phone, as well as that of the NSPCC? • Are you up to speed with your child’s club’s safeguarding policies and procedures? • Do you regularly check-in with your child to see what they are enjoying/not enjoying and why? Parents' Pack for PANTS message

The TV advert directs parents to the PANTS campaign, used in schools for many years. There is now a pack for parents to use, to encourage them to have a conversation that many might feel uncomfortable about having. Information is also available in Welsh and for children with a hearing impairment. The link to the parents’ PANTS pack is here: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-children-safe/underwear-rule
